Recycling (Place together in the GRAY cart, except glass)

Paper

Do include:

  • Cardboard
  • Magazines, catalogs and phone books
  • Mail and office paper
  • Cereal, cracker and shoe-type boxes
  • Newspapers
  • Paper egg cartons
  • Paper bags
  • Labels
  • Wrapping paper, greeting cards (no foil)
  • Shredded paper (place in paper bag)
  • Milk, juice and soup cartons (rinsed and drained

Do NOT include:

  • Paper with food on it (pizza boxes, etc.)
  • Wax, plastic or foil coated paper
  • Paper with “wet strength”in it: Frozen food boxes, paper cups, paper plates, napkins, paper towels, tissue, pet food bags etc. These items do not break down in the paper making process.

Metal

Do include:

  • Clean metal cans
  • Clean foil, pie plates, trays
  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Other scrap metal items

Do NOT include:

  • Items heavier than 30 lb.
  • Items longer than 30 in.

Plastic

Do include:

  • Clean plastic bottles and tubs, 6 oz. or larger
  • Clean plastic buckets
  • Rigid plastic nursery pots, 4 in. across or larger (no dirt)

Do NOT include:

  • Lids, trays, cups, plates, silverware
  • Plastic bags and plastic film (recycle shopping bags at grocery stores)
  • Bottles or tubs smaller than 6 oz.
  • Clear “clamshells” (such as bakery containers)
  • Styrofoam® packaging, peanuts, trays, take-out containers (foam peanuts may be taken to a mailing service for reuse)
  • Blister packaging (tough, clear, product-shaped, display plastic)
  • Toys and large items
  • Biodegradable plastics
  • Food contaminated items
  • Hazardous material and motor oil bottles

Glass (Place in separate bin of your choosing)

Do include:

  • Clean glass bottles and jars

Do NOT include:

  • Plates, glassware, cookware, ceramics and vases
  • Mirrors, picture frames, and window glass
  • Light bulbs (Please see Recycle + information below for recycling light bulbs. For safe disposal take them to Metro South, 2001 Washington St. Oregon City, 503-234-3000)

Motor Oil…

goes in a marked, unbreakable container with a screw top lid. Place near the gray recycling cart.  ENGINE OIL ONLY we can not except any mixed oil or other types.


Yard Debris (Place in BROWN cart)

Do include:

  • Grass Clippings
  • Weeds
  • Leaves
  • Tree and Shrub prunings (under 4″ diameter and 36″ length)
  • 120 lb. maximum weight

Do NOT include:

  • Dirt, sod
  • Wood, lumber, stumps, logs
  • Flower pots, plant tags
  • Concrete, rocks
  • Animal waste
  • Cat litter
  • Food waste
  • Metal
  • Plastic bags
  • Garbage

If you have extra yard debris:
Set out in a 32 gallon can labeled yard debris (6o lb. maximum) or a 32 gallon paper lawn and leaf bag. Call us for fees.


 

Garbage (Place in GREEN cart)

Everything not accepted for recycling or yard debris can be placed in the garbage except…
